What makes Clume different from other cloud storage?
Clume offers isolated, temporary vaults that you control completely. Your files are end-to-end encrypted, never shared with third parties, and automatically destroyed when the vault expires, giving you privacy and security on your terms.
What are zero knowledge and end-to-end encrypted?
Your data is encrypted on your device before it’s uploaded. Only people with the vault password can decrypt it. Clume or any third party has never had access to your files, notes, or encryption keys.
How secure is it, really?
Security in Clume goes beyond encryption. Its zero-knowledge architecture with multiple protections, isolated vaults, and automatic expiry limit access and reduce risk at every step, making it one of the safest cloud avaible.
What happens if I forget my vault password?
You can recover access using your vault recovery file, a .clume file generated when you created the vault, which you download and store yourself. To recover, you need both: the recovery file and your Clume account. Neither works without the other, the file is useless without your account, and your account alone can't unlock the vault. Clume never stores your password or your decrypted keys at any point. If you've lost both your password and your recovery file, access is permanently gone, by design. You can also revoke recovery access at any time, which instantly invalidates any previously downloaded .clume file.
Do I need an account open a vault?
No. Clume is designed to be frictionless. Anyone can access a vault with its ID and password. There are also simpler options, such as Digicode access or Quicklinks. For more control, Clume supports permission roles, so you can manage who can upload, or download in files your vault.
What encryption standard does Clume use?
Clume uses AES-256-GCM, the same standard used in banking, government infrastructure, and end-to-end encrypted messengers. Your files are encrypted on your device before being uploaded, meaning the encrypted data we store is unreadable without your key.
Can I use Clume for professional work?
Absolutely. Many legal, design, and tech professionals use Clume to transfer confidential material. It’s fast enough for everyday use, and private enough for the most sensitive documents.
Where exactly are the servers hosted?
Clume is hosted within the European Union, in compliance with GDPR principles. We apply strict data minimisation, we store only what's necessary, and automatic vault expiry ensures data doesn't outlive its purpose.
